Balloon Boy: The Kazoosical

We all remember the day that all major news stations were fixated on a flying silver weather balloon in Colorado that not only closed down Denver International Airport for hours but had a military helicopter sent after it all because of a perceived notion that their was a small boy trapped inside that balloon.  We also remember that when the balloon landed no little boy was found inside because he was back in his home hiding in a cardboard box in attic all along.  And we most certainly remember when the little boy unwittingly ousted his father's secret of planning this hoax as a publicity stunt live on CNN.  

This story impacted the country for many months, but not as much as it impacted 13 year old Billy Recce who wrote two full act play based on this balloon hoax.  This Kazoosical (aka a musical with lots of Kazoos) features a group of stunningly talented Hauppauge students whom are all passionate about spreading the love and humor of this insatiable hot air balloon tale.  Jessica “Miss Z” Zivny started her own theatre company (AKA NYZ CHILDREN’S THEATRE CO.) for these enthusiastic students so they could have unrestricted means to express themselves and to find confidence in using their own creativity and talents.  “Balloon Boy” continues to be developed by the ensemble as a whole, and everyone has a voice (and now, a kazoo).  

"Balloon Boy: The Kazoosical" ran at studio e for two nights (June 28th and June 30th) packing out the house both nights with a crowd and laughs.  The plays naturally zany story was only the tip of the iceberg when it came to the comedy that was produced from this play.  All the actors had their own unique style which blended together perfectly that had the crowd floored by the end of each night.  
 

Studio e is a 1,100 Sq.
